As a choreographer, I am constantly intrigued by the intersection of digital, interactive technology and live performance dance. This was the first time an interactive digital dance performance ever occurred at the University of West Indies: Festival of Movement, Department of Creative and Festival Arts on November 1-2,  2019.

Motivated by the idea that “there is an ongoing dance between the inner experience of ourselves and the outer environment with which we interact,” the dancers and I explored collaboratively in the process what this meant in our lives translated into movement (Studd & Cox: 2013,23). We explored notions from Dr. Guest’s Language of Dance in terms of relational forms and basic movements. The result is an exploration in movement, music, visuals, and vocal resonances that illustrate moments of self and other. The performance uses a Kinect camera and Isadora software to outwardly express the dancer’s self and other reflections.The music is improvised by their movements in three parts.
