2011. Grip Pavement, Grab Metal, and Gray Musings are three short screendance videos exploring the theme of ‘place’ in 60 seconds. The competition format and time limit is in response to the influence of commercials, the ‘YouTube’ phenomena, and the increased affordability and accessibility of mobile technologies. My three explorations, as videographer and co-collaborator, focused on one male dancer and his experience of place in the forgotten warehouses and streets in Dumbo, New York City.  He explores the grittiness of the pavement, the sounds created by the friction between his shoes and the ground, and the movements of his extremities grabbing urban residue.

The three short screendance videos were shown in the 60secondsdance.dk competition in collaboration with dancer Javier Baca.
